OFFERING COUNSELLING SERVICES
Meet Fisayo Akinyede,
Registered Provisional Psychologist
(She/Her)
Fisayo is a compassionate and culturally responsive Registered Provisional Psychologist who is deeply committed to creating safe, affirming, and healing spaces for individuals, couples, and families. She supports clients navigating a wide range of concerns—including trauma, identity exploration, depression, grief and loss, parenting challenges, and the layered experiences of immigration and acculturation. With a warm and grounded presence, Fisayo fosters healing, self-discovery, and growth.
She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Her experience spans clinical and community-based roles, where she has worked with children, youth, adults, and older adults from diverse cultural and intergenerational backgrounds. Fisayo’s professional background includes roles as an individual, couple, and family therapist, program facilitator, youth mentor, and counselling program coordinator.
Fisayo tailors her approach to each client’s unique context, needs, and strengths by integrating a range of evidence-based modalities. She draws on Narrative Therapy to help clients explore, reclaim, and re-author their personal stories and uses Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to deepen emotional awareness and strengthen relational bonds. Through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), she supports clients in identifying and shifting unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns, while her use of Mindfulness-Based Approaches fosters emotional regulation, presence, and resilience. She also incorporates Strengths-Based and Anti-Oppressive practices to honour each client’s identity, lived experience, and the systemic realities that shape their lives.
She is especially passionate about supporting clients through cultural identity concerns, intergenerational and migration trauma, complex family and relationship dynamics, burnout, grief and loss, and life transitions.
Clients who work with Fisayo can expect a collaborative, non-judgmental, and respectful space where every part of their story—including culture, identity, and history—is welcomed and valued. She takes the time to truly listen, walking alongside clients with empathy and curiosity as they uncover insight, strengthen coping, and move toward a deeper sense of agency, hope, and wholeness.
Fisayo believes healing happens within the safety of trusting relationships. Her work is grounded in the belief that every individual holds the capacity for growth, and her role is to provide the steady, supportive environment needed to nurture that growth—always at the client’s pace, and in alignment with their voice and values.
Fisayo has availability for the upcoming summer months and is offering counselling sessions on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 4:00pm to 9:00pm.

Personal Insights:
What inspired you to become a psychologist?
As an African Canadian who immigrated to Canada, I know firsthand how powerful it is to feel truly seen, heard, and supported. My passion lies in walking alongside individuals who are navigating what it means to belong, reclaim their voice, or rebuild after life’s challenges.
What is your therapy superpower?
Creating a space of deep listening—rooted in compassion, curiosity, and care—where clients feel safe enough to explore what hurts and strong enough to envision what’s possible.
What values guide your clinical work?
My work is guided by the values of genuineness, empathy, compassion, and cultural humility. I aim to hold space where clients can show up in their full humanity—without needing to shrink or hide any part of themselves.
How do you define “authenticity”?
Authenticity means showing up as your whole self—messy, brilliant, struggling, thriving—and being met with acceptance, not judgment. I bring my full self into the therapy room too: sometimes soft and reflective, sometimes humorous and gently challenging, but always real.
Oluwafisayo (Fisayo) Akinyede
with her Authentic Perspective 🌿
Outside of her work as a psychologist, Fisayo is someone who deeply values connection, creativity, and culture—qualities that are woven into the heart of her therapeutic approach. She cherishes quality time with her loved ones, especially relaxing over a good movie or dining out with friends and family to share stories and laughter. Staying connected to her cultural roots is deeply meaningful to her, and she finds joy in cultural cuisine, music, dance, and community gatherings. Fisayo is also passionate about travel and loves discovering the unique beauty and charm of different places around the world. Her background in acting continues to be a fulfilling outlet for creative expression and helps her bring presence, curiosity, and attunement into every session.
These personal passions reflect the same values Fisayo brings into her work with clients: a deep respect for lived experience, a genuine curiosity about each person’s unique story, and a heartfelt commitment to creating space for growth, healing, and meaningful connection. If you’re looking for a therapist who brings warmth, insight, and authenticity into the therapy room, Fisayo would be honoured to walk alongside you. She is currently accepting new clients for evening sessions and welcomes individuals, couples, and families who are ready to begin their journey toward healing and self-discovery!
